The first women's back-to-back national championships in school history, the 1990 and 1991 women's soccer teams went 35-7-7 during the title runs under the guidance of Hall of Fame coach Pat Farmer.

The 1990 squad went 16-5-4 and defeated SUNY Cortland on penalty kicks in the national championship contest after a scoreless draw. Ithaca allowed just eight goals all season and posted 17 shutouts, including six straight to end the year. Two of the Bombers' victories during the campaign came against Division I competition, Binghamton (2-0) and St. Bonaventure (2-0).

In 1991, the Bombers went 19-2-3 and won their last nine contests of the season, which was capped off with a 2-0 victory over the University of Rochester in the national title match. The '91 squad still holds the school-record for wins in a season, and the team notched 18 shutouts. Ithaca also surrendered just eight goals and held the nation's 13th-best save percentage at .930.

Hall of Fame goalie and two-time All-American, Beth Howland '92, still ranks 12th all-time in career goals-against average at .355. Megan Collins Heiar '94, Catherine Moss Moore '93 and Kristin Kaupang '94 are also IC Hall of Famers that played on the teams.
