The Ithaca College Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) was created in the fall of 1994 to serve as the representative body of student-athletes at Ithaca College. The establishment and recognition of SAAC has been an important step to enhancing the involvement of student-athletes on matters that affect their experience as a student-athlete.

Mission Statement

Communication among campus and national
SAAC offers student-athletes the opportunity to shape the landscape of intercollegiate athletics.

Functions of campus SAACs:
  • Promote communication between athletics administration and student-athletes.
  • Disseminate information.
  • Provide feedback and insight into athletics department issues.
  • Generate a student-athlete voice within the campus athletics department formulation of policies.
  • Build a sense of community within the athletics program involving all athletics teams.
  • Solicit student-athlete responses to proposed conference and NCAA legislation.
  • Organize community service efforts.
  • Create a vehicle for student-athlete representation on campus-wide committees (e.g., student government).
  • Promote a positive student-athlete image on campus.
Members of a campus SAAC have the opportunity to address issues affecting student-athletes at their institution; furthermore, members have the opportunity to offer input on issues which may be national in scope.

Female Rookie:

Rookie who has made an immediate impact on the team and excelled in their sport. Demonstrates strong dedication, work ethic, and talent while fully embracing what it means to be a Bomber.

  • One of 6 on the team to qualify for nationals
  • All-American at nationals as a freshman
  • Shows incredible work ethic in and out of the gym
  • Worked through battles in the gym, but they never stopped her
  • Always there for her teammates 

Women’s Tennis:
Jade Vadeboncoeur Jade Vadeboncoeur

  • Jade is a freshman Music Education major who chose to walk-on at the start of the fall semester. 
  • She balances practices, lifts, and matches with rehearsals, concerts, and playing multiple instruments. 
  • She came off of her first collegiate match against RIT, winning in a three-set battle to tie the match score. 
  • Her energy, smile, and personality are infectious. She always brightens the mood at practice and brings the energy

Women’s Track and Field:
Lola Gitlin

  • First individual for Ithaca and placed 15th overall at Niagara Region XC Championships, also placed 7th overall at Liberty League Cross County Championships 

  • Placed 2nd in the 5k and 5th in the 3k at the Liberty League Indoor Track Championships 

  • Lola shows up to practice everyday ready to work. She is one of the hardest workers on the team and has an infectious smile that lights up the team around her.

Volleyball:

  • Overall brings incredible energy to the team, a natural-born leader, and contributed an incredible amount athletically to the team 

  • Liberty League Rookie of the Year

Field Hockey:
Amelia MacDonald

  • She stepped into her role seamlessly and was able to adapt to our play and our team very quickly.

  • Combined with a strong mentality and positive mindset she is one rookie who was essential to our team this season. 

  • 6 starts 

  • 18 games played

Women’s Swimming and Diving:
Madison Morris


 
  • Qualified for Nationals and All-American on both 1meter and 3meter boards

  • Positive work ethic

  • Improved a lot as she never did 3m diving until this season

  • Big part of creating a good team culture

  • Played between number 1 and 2 lineup consistently in the fall season

  • 6 ground balls and 1 caused turnover vs #15 St. Lawrence

  • Consistently gets extra work in (during school day, after practice), great student

  • A top scorer at liberty leagues (scoring 82.5 points, 1st in the 400 IM, 2nd in the 200 IM, and 7th in the 200 Fly, also a part of the winning 800 Free Relay)

  • Great work ethic always locked in and working hard, very motivated individual and always motivating his teammates

  • Always showed up at meets when it mattered most

  • Indoor AARTFC All-Region Team, 5th overall in pole vault in Indoor Liberty League Championship Meet, 12th at AARTFC Indoor Meet, 1x rookie of the week.

Volleyball
 

  • 4 time Liberty League champs! 

  • Each player has a very strong work ethic, sense of leadership, sense of community and it is represented through their success in the classroom, on the court and in the community.

Women's Soccer 

 

  • 3.7 team fall GPA 

  • 5 players named to all liberty league teams 

  • Made it to liberty League finals 

  • 10 Shutouts 

  • Volunteer at free community soccer clinics 

  • Always supporting fellow bombers at sports games 


 
Women's Cross County 

  • Placed 3rd at the Niagara Regional Cross Country Championships and Placed 4th at Liberty League Championships 

  • Ran a clothing drive for families in need to help families in the area with winter clothes 

  • Hosts an alumni race that brings many alumni and their families back for a "will be race" for the kids and a "varsity race" for the alumni to compete against the current team. This even is followed by a picnic and celebratory volleyball game that the team and alumni get to know one another better and develop more connections through Ithaca Cross Country. 

Field Hockey

  • Gave ranked SUNY Geneseo their only loss of the season. 

  • Worked our way back from being a lower seed in the tournament to making it to semifinals

  • Two overtime wins vs. William Smith and RPI, scoring within the first minute against William Smith. 

  • Coach Wahila secured her 100th win as a bomber

  • Fourth best GPA in all of DIII Field Hockey at a 3.82

  • Four players named All-Liberty League honors 

  • Two players named NFHCA DIII All Region Team 

  • One player named NFHCA Senior Team 

  • Has attended the most amount of Blue Crew bashes, volunteers at the ReUse Center, Fishes and Loaves 

  • Supports causes annually through awareness games… causes such as Hidden Opponent

Women’s Wrestling 


 
Men's Swim + Dive 
  • Won our first liberty league championship (beating our closest competition, rit, by 96.5 points) winning 6 individual titles, 3 relay titles, 15 individual and all five relays earning all Liberty league honors, 44 liberty league finalists, 70 personal bests at leagues 
  • 8-2 dual meet record (undefeated in the conference)
  • Sent one diver to ncaa regionals and one swimmer to ncaas
Women's Indoor Track + Field 
  • Placed 1st at Liberty League Championships 
  • Filled up a whole two weeks worth of shifts at Loaves and Fishes over winter break 
  • Many Bombers on the track team attended bomber bashes and supported the other teams on campus. Often times making it a team effort to support other teams.

Men's Indoor Track + Field

  • Third straight season with improvement regarding league placement. Currently ranked 4th overall in league. 

  • Five members named as members of Indoor AARTFC All-Region Team.

  • Program has been completely restructured under new head coach (both accomplishments and team culture). The team is heavily involved with community service (either through SAAC or other organizations).

Women's Swimming + Diving

  • Won Liberty Leagues for the 7th time in a row

  • During Season (September - March), excelled in average 7 practices, 3 lifts, and 1 meet every week

  • Volunteered ~250 hours total giving swim lessons to Ithaca Community

  • First win versus St. Lawrence since 2019. Was ranked #15
  • Compete in one of the strongest conferences in D3

  • 48/50 guys above a 3.0 GPA, most attendees of male teams to attend the Scholar-Athlete Luncheon (8)

Women's Tennis 

  • Incredibly tight knit group, supporting and spending time with each other on and off the court. 

  • Display academic excellence with the majority of players having multiple majors and minors and receiving awards in their respective departments. 

  • Committed to giving back to the Ithaca community, either by volunteering with different local organizations, or hosting tennis clinics for adults and other community members. 

Women's Outdoor Track + Field 
  • Placed 2nd in the Liberty League Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2025
  • The track team had 31 Liberty League All-Academics in 2025 season 

  • The track team sent 3 individuals to the Outdoor National Track and Field Championships 

Women’s Lacrosse 
  • A very hardworking team that demonstrates what it means to be a bomber

  • Works hard in the classroom with students that excel on and off the field

  • A team that supports other teams across campus by supporting other athletes in their competitions  

Golf
  • Highest GPA in D3 Golf for the 2024-25 academic year

  • Very involved in extracurriculars across campus with 2 leadership scholars

  • Have earned Bombers of the Week in the weight room 

  • 3 first-place finishes and 1 second-place finish out of 5 tournaments in the fall season

Ithaca Men's Rowing 
  • Very high success in LL

  • Made it to national championship two years in a row

  • Maintain intense training throughout the fall and winter "off seasons" while still competing and working out when there isn't water access

Recognizes a standout athlete who excels in two distinct sports, either simultaneously or across different seasons. This award honors versatility, time management, and dedication in balancing the demands of multiple teams.

  • Very versatile and driven athlete both in rowing and swimmer

  • Primary focus on swimming from august until february and then goes straight in rowing following liberty league swim and dive champs

  • A final in all 3 of his individual events scored 77 points (4th in the 200 back, 5th in the 100 back, and 4th in the 400 im) also in the mens varsity 8 for rowing

XC:

  • Placed 1st in 400IM and placed in the Mile at Liberty League Swim and Dive Championships 

  • Was on the regional team that placed 3rd at the Niagara Regional Cross Country Championships

  • Erika swam and conditioned all throughout her cross country season to prepare for the winter swim season. She not only prepared for swim but came to cross country practice everyday giving it her all. Erika was the fastest freshman on the cross country team this year and additionally is a 3 sport athlete after deciding to compete on the outdoor track and field team as well. Erika balances her many roles with grace, connecting with all her teams on a deep personal level and being a fierce competitor on the land and in the water.

  • 2-year Captain and a Member of SAAC since Sophomore year. 

  • She always brings a positive and uplifting attitude

  • She is the best teammate and is always cheering on everyone on the team. 

  • She is an amazing leader and extremely approachable 

  • She works extremely hard both on and off the field (3 on-campus jobs, hosts open lab, volunteers at the Ithaca Youth Bureau)

  • She excels in the classroom as she will be graduating Summa Cum Laude.

  • One of our team captains, she shows up to every practice and lift ready to put her all in.

  • She has an incredible fighting spirit and is a very strong competitor, she leaves it all out on the court every time. 

  • She is someone that everyone on the team looks up too, not only on court but in the classroom. She is planning on becoming a doctor and has made a name for herself within the Health Sciences department.

Women’s Track + Field:
Talia Hutchinson


 
  • Talia is one of the hardest workers on the team. She placed 5th at the Indoor National Track and Field Championships in this past indoor track season. She always gives everything 100% and encourages her teammates to do so as well.

  • Talia brings a vital energy to the team. She greets everyone with a smile and asks how their day is going. On a 60 person team it can be hard to remember everyones goals for the season, this is something that Talia has never had trouble with. She always is hyping up her teammates and checking in on them before and after they compete.

  • Talia has also received many all academic awards throughout her career on the track. Talia is someone who gives her all to everything and everyone that is in her life.

  • Payton Fisch can be seen sprinting around our boathouse making sure she is coxing everyone throughout the winter 

  • has proven herself on the water to be so motivating and excited to race

  • Payton always brings the energy and the dedication.

Volleyball:

  • She is a transfer this year and has made such an incredible impact on the team

  • One of the most genuine people you will ever meet, with such an infectious positivity, and has inspired our mindset and work ethic like no other. 

  • She is also helping bring volleyball to the local community, spreading out incredible culture.

Field Hockey:

  • 2 year captain and member of SAAC since sophomore year. 

  • provides consistency with her leadership, energy, and dedication to the program, pushing the program forward with her attitude and effort and BOMB-like personality. 

  • Excels within the physical therapy major, heavily involved in other campus organizations and events, always willing to lend a helping hand and cheer others on. 

  • more likely to congratulate others after her own successes, demonstrating her selfless and servant leadership.

  • Stays excited for her teammates whether she is on the field with them or outside the lines beyond the sport.

  • Always in the practice room getting extra reps in and battled through injury all year

  • Has an incredible work ethic and consistently pumps up her teammates.

Women’s Swim + Dive:
Kathleen Papiernik

  • Brings so much fun to the team and encourages those around her to try their absolute best. 

  • Loves to have fun and works to make sure the team around her is also having a good time. 

  • Also the Liberty League Swimmer of the year after qualifying for nationals being 17th in the country in the 100 butterfly. 

  • At Liberty Leagues, she set an association + championship record in the 100 fly while also winning the 200IM and getting 2nd place in the 200 breaststroke, which was a powerful motivator for the team.

Men’s Track + Field:
Eddie Kennedy

  • Qualified for AARTFC meet in for the 400 meter hurdles outdoor after being injured for a large majority on his indoor season. He showed a great amount of resilience during his post rehab process. He is currently ranked 2nd in the league for the 400 meter hurdles.
  • Involved with many different track and field events (200 meter dash, 4x200 meter relay, 400 meter dash, 400 meter hurdles, 4x400 meter relay). This is a lot to handle for a freshman, but he is able to deal with pressure after an injury.

  • Teammate who brought the most amount of energy to the track and field team during workouts.

Recognizes an athlete who goes above and beyond her role in sport, making meaningful and lasting contributions to her community. Often an unsung hero, she leads through service, character, and selflessness, using her actions to inspire others to give back and make a positive impact beyond the field.

  • She is a Hidden Opponent Campus Captain 

  • Member of SAAC since her Sophomore year 

  • She actively seeks out ways to engage in the community and shares community service opportunities with the team. 

  • ReUse center volunteer, Longview volunteer, and numerous softball clinics and camps, coaching younger girls 

  • She brings a positive and kind energy to every practice and game and is truly someone you can turn to when needing help, a kind word, or just overall support. 

  • She is a mentor to younger girls and helps lead our team on and off the field, always pushing us to be our best selves.

  • Maddie is a quiet leader. She always leads by example. She puts in the hours on her own time, while also putting in the most effort during lifts and practice. Her work ethic is unmatched, and Ithaca Tennis wouldn't be the program that it is without her. 

  • She is the kindest person we know, and a go-to person for everyone on the team, captains and players alike. Regardless of the topic she will always listen and help when she can.

  • She motivates others by her actions and her effort and supports everyone (on Ithaca Tennis or any other sports team).

Women’s Track + Field:
Abigail Reppert

  • Abby is a leader on the team who always ensures that everyone is doing well. Abby always checks in on her teammates when she sees them and lifts up those around her. She is always eager to help out and ensure that her teammates know how much she values them.

  • Abby is a hard worker, who's dedication is inspiring to her other teammates and those around her. She placed 7th at the Liberty League Championships in Pole Vault this past indoor season, continuing to be a vital part of the committed culture that we try to instill in the team.

  • Abby is very passionate and her bright energy makes this team feel like a family. She connects with her teammates on a personal level and always

Women’s Rowing:
Kai Lincke

  • She literally embodies this. 

  • Kai never stops she's always doing something whether it's for the Ithacan, or for her classes 

  • she is always on the go and always contributing to the community in any way she can. 

  • Kai has thanked the coaches every single day for the last four years after practice.

Volleyball:
Naomi Clauhs

  • She is an incredible team captain who has instilled a wonderful team culture into the volleyball team since she was a freshman. 

  • In addition, she does many different extracurriculars being a eco reps leader who organizes many volunteer opportunities for the volleyball team to participate in. 

  • She is the most supportive and genuine person. 

  • Her work ethic and dedication is like no other.

Field Hockey:

  • Captain, SAAC Bomber Leads E-Board rep, Ithaca Field Hockey Giving Day coordinator for three years, president of Give. 

  • Being inducted into two honor societies for her minor. 

  • She is a thrifty gal, consistently caring about the environment and inspiring others to be aware of the impact that they have. 

  • Brooke goes beyond the field to help her team and the Ithaca community through her leadership and service. 

  • Brooke is dedicated to the bomber blue lifestyle, wearing the Ithaca across her chest with dignity and pride.

Women’s Wrestling:
Sammi Meyer

  • After coming out of a 7-year retirement from the sport of wrestling, Sammi came into the year ready to go, bringing excitement and energy day in and day out. After suffering what would be a season ending elbow dislocation for most, Sammi did not let that slow her momentum down. She never missed a practice and did everything she could to have a chance at making a comeback for the NCAA Regional tournament. 

  • Despite the initial prognosis, Sammi’s hard work and consistency paid off and she was able to compete at Regionals and rack up 2 wins.

  • First individual for Ithaca and placed 15th overall at Niagara Region XC Championships, also placed 7th overall at Liberty League Cross County Championships 

  • Lola was doing Cross Country for the first time in her life and made an immediate impact on the team. She lights up every room that she walks into. Her dedication, selflessness and hard work ethic inspire the whole team to be better everyday. She is someone who will do anything for anyone and if a teammate ever needs something they know who to go to. Lola was not only the top scorer at most of the cross country meets this season, but she is also an energetic personality that made her team better at what they did. 

  • Lola shows up to practice everyday ready to work. She is one of the hardest workers on the team and has an infectious smile that lights up the team around her.

Volleyball:

  • Coming back from an injury and still being there for the team is something that does not go unnoticed with her

  • She maintains good grades, good health, and good standings with everyone on the team not letting her injury set her back.

  • With one of the most dedicated work ethics we have seen, Payton Yahner’s hard work and desire to succeed pushes her teammates to work hard too. 
  • Payton has a strong and consistent presence on the field, tallying an All-Liberty League Honorable mention. 

  • She is a three time Scholar of Distinction and a member of the Oracle Honor Society. 

  • Payton is a dawg in the weight room. She puts her head down, working in silence, but the results do not go unnoticed. 

  • Stepping into a captain role her senior year, Payton leads by example with empathy and puts strong value in relationship building.

  • Talia is one of the hardest workers on the team. She placed 5th at the Indoor National Track and Field Championships in this past indoor track season. She always gives everything 100% and encourages her teammates to do so as well.

  • Talia brings vital energy to the team. She greets everyone with a smile and asks how their day is going. On a 60 person team it can be hard to remember everyones goals for the season, this is something that Talia has never had trouble with. She always is hyping up her teammates and checking in on them before and after they compete.

  • Talia has also received many academic awards throughout her career on the track. Talia is someone who gives her all to everything and everyone that is in her life.

  • Top scorer at liberty leagues scoring 96 points (champion in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 fly, and apart of the winning 400 medley relay and 200 free relay. apart of the runner up 200 medley and 400 free relays) won co swimmer of the meet for those performances
  • Qualifying and going to ncaas swimming the 50 free tying 35th, 100 free getting 39th, and 100 fly getting 40th
  • Came back as a grad student to help us win our first liberty league championship, great leader always motivating the team at practices and meets cheering everyone on

  • Ranked 22nd in the nation for triple jump (two spots off of nationals) as a rookie.

  • Ava always takes care of those around her. She is a teammate that you can always count on and someone who is always checking in on people. She is someone who loves this sport and loves the teammates that she gets to compete with. We are so lucky to have her as the glue to our family.

  • Senior captain on the men's track and field team, and overall team MVP for both indoor and outdoor accomplishments. Indoor accomplishments senior year included AARTFC All-Region Team, 2nd in heptathlon in liberty league, 6th for heptathlon in AARTFC meet.

  • Coach Mary has coached many athletes that have reached the National level. Coach Mary has coached one of our current teammates JR Maddie Wright to 4 National Championships in the high jump. 

  • Coach Mary is an extremely personable, passionate coach who loves what she does and loves the athletes that she does it with. Even those of us who are not directly coached by Mary feel that she is interested in our success as athletes, people and students.

  • Graduate assistant coach who showed great dedication towards coaching (hosted 6:30am practices for those who could not make regular practice, hosted extra core workouts, is always available for extra help).

  • Both a sprints and jumps coach, but also helped out with setting up for practice and creating workouts. 

  • Also, the most voted on by the team as the "coach of the year", so many others feel that he has been able to motivate them in a great way.

  • As our Associate Head Coach, Coach Mo is playing chess, not checkers. Dedicating 10 years to this program, Coach Mo has seen Ithaca field hockey through Empire 8 championships, into the Liberty League, winning our first Liberty league championship in 2024 and making it to the sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament for the first time in 40 years in 2023. 
  • As our defensive specialist, Coach Mo spends hours scouting and planning tactically for our team, keeping goals against to a low of 13 total this season. Several games have been won because of the defensive strategy and scout of Coach Mo. 

  • Off of the field, Coach Mo takes the time to get to know every single one of her athletes deeply, making them feel seen and valued. Coach Mo never lets us forget that we are more than just student athletes.
