Ithaca College Athletic Hall of Fame
Clyde "Whitey" Cole '34 was a three-year letter winner in football, wrestling and track and field for Ithaca. After graduating, he turned to coaching and stayed in that field until 1950 when he joined the New York State Education Department, where he served as Supervisor of Physical Education and Recreation. As a coach he led Oxford Academy to some of its greatest years in football, basketball and track. Cole also reestablished the Ithaca College wrestling program of which he served as head coach from 1946-51, posting a winning record, developing two all-Americans and gaining honorable mention for Coach of the Year in 1948.
