Hatch was a starter and a letterman in football and baseball at I.C. from 1932-36. A tough 145-pounder, he was the heart of four Ithaca grid teams which compiled a 17-6-3 record, and he captained the team as a senior. In those days, Hatch was constantly playing 60 minutes a game. Hatch coached high school athletics for 10 years before returning to Ithaca as head football coach in 1947. He held that post until 1950 when he was named Director of Athletics at Corning East High School. He retired form Corning in 1971.
