Rochester, N.Y. - The Ithaca men's tennis team (12-2, 5-0 Empire 8) won a key doubles match and went on to a 7-2 win at RIT (4-5, 2-2 Empire 8) Tuesday afternoon. Ithaca is ranked 16th in the Northeast Region according to the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.

The Bombers picked up a convincing 8-2 win at first doubles by the team of senior Taylor Borda (West Morris-Mendham/Chester, N.J.) and junior Josh Rifkin (Homestead/Fort Wayne, Ind.). RIT won third doubles, but Ithaca's second doubles team of senior Daniel Wolk (The Field School/Potomac, Md.) and sophomore Jimmy Newton (Florida Virtual School/Englewood, Fla.) grabbed the last doubles point by winning their match in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-5).

Ithaca added singles wins by Borda, Rifkin, Newton, Wolk and freshman Josh Berggrun (Orange/Pepper Pike, Ohio). The Bombers return to action Sunday at home against Alfred, beginning at noon.
