2010-11: As a junior, Newton moved up in the lineup and became a first-team All-Empire 8 pick in both singles and doubles play. Newton was 14-13 overall in singles play and 7-1 in Empire 8 matches. He teamed with Josh Rifkin to go 25-7 in doubles matches on the year. |

2009-10: Newton was a first-team Empire 8 selection in doubles play and a second-team pick in singles play as a sophomore. Newton was 13-8 overall in singles play, 5-1 in Empire 8 matches, and teamed with Danny Wolk to go 19-3 overall in doubles, mainly at the second doubles spot. |

2008-09: Newton made an immediate impact as a freshman and earned All-Empire 8 Second Team honors in singles and Honorable Mention in doubles with partner Danny Wolk. Newton was named Empire 8 Player of the Week for the week ending April 27 following a 4-0 week for the Bombers in matches against St. Lawrence and Nazareth. Newton tied for second on the team with 16 singles victories, primarily at third singles where he was 15-4. Newton was 16-9 in doubles play and played the second doubles position with Wolk toward the end of the season. |
2008-09 Match-By-Match Statistics
High School: Newton graduated from Florida Virtual School and played tennis for coach Mike Maier at Lemon Bay High School, where he competed in first singles and first doubles. He was a two-time letter winner and earned Most Improved Player and Most Competitive Player honors.
Personal: Newton is a physical therapy/athletic training major and is the son of Tom and Pat Newton.
