Utica, N.Y. – The Ithaca men's tennis team (7-2, 1-0 Empire 8) began its conference season with a convincing 9-0 win at Utica (0-1, 0-1 Empire 8) Friday afternoon. The Bombers rolled through all nine matches, never losing more than four games at any position.

The second doubles team of senior Daniel Wolk (The Field School/Potomac, Md.) and sophomore Jimmy Newton (Florida Virtual School/Englewood, Fla.) gave won 8-1 to open the match. Both followed that by winning 6-0, 6-0 in singles play.

Ithaca's nationally-ranked doubles tandem of senior Taylor Borda (West Morris-Mendham/Chester, N.J.) and junior Josh Rifkin (Homestead/Fort Wayne, Ind.) won 8-2 at first doubles, and each was victorious in singles action.

The Bombers travel to Hobart for a match Thursday at 4 p.m.
