Mendon, N.Y. - The Ithaca men's tennis team won the first eight matches off the courts and improved to 11-2 overall and 4-0 in the Empire 8 with an 8-1 win over Nazareth (3-1, 3-1 Empire 8) at the Mendon Racquet Club.

The first doubles team of senior Taylor Borda (West Morris-Mendham/Chester, N.J.) and Josh Rifkin (Homestead/Fort Wayne, Ind.) won their 20th doubles match of the year. That tandem is currently ranked third among doubles teams in the Northeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Sophomore Jimmy Newton (Florida Virtual School/Englewood, Fla.) was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at third singles and earned his 10th singles victory of the season. He also teamed with senior Danny Wolk (The Field School/Potomac, Md.) to win 8-4 at second doubles.

Ithaca travels to RIT for an Empire 8 match Tuesday at 4 p.m.
