Ithaca, N.Y. - The Ithaca men's tennis team (9-2) won the last two doubles matches and last three singles matches in a 5-4 victory over Stevens (10-2) at the Reis Tennis Center. Senior Taylor Borda (West Morris-Mendham/Chester, N.J.), junior Josh Rifkin (Homestead/Fort Wayne, Ind.) and senior Danny Wolk (The Field School/Potomac, Md.) clinched the victory by closing out the singles play.

Borda lost the first set of his match and came back to win the final two sets. He trailed 5-2 in the third-set tiebreaker and rallied to win the breaker 9-7 and the match 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 (9-7). That set Ithaca in motion. The next match off was at first singles where Rifkin sealed his three-set win by claiming the third set 6-3. Match scores were 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. Wolk's clinching point was also a three-set win by scores of 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.

Ithaca led 2-1 after the doubles matches. After Stevens claimed the first team point at third doubles, Wolk and sophomore Jimmy Newton (Florida Virtual School/Englewood, Fla.) tied the overall score with an 8-6 victory and Borda and Rifkin were 9-7 winners at first doubles.

Ithaca returns to action Wednesday when the Bombers host Hartwick at the IC Tennis Courts beginning at 4 p.m.
