Pittsford, N.Y. -- The #18 Ithaca College baseball team (18-6-1, 8-2 Empire 8) lost a pitcher's duel to host St. John Fisher (20-8, 5-4 Empire 8) Friday when the Cardinals scored a ninth-inning run. Junior
Pat Lemmo pitched another gem, allowing seven hits and a walk while striking out four Cardinals in the complete-game effort.
In the bottom of the ninth, St. John Fisher's lead-off hitter reached on a bloop single that fell just behind the Bomber shortstop. After a sacrifice bunt moved him to second, he scored on a single up the middle.
The first 14 Bombers were retired, but Ithaca put at least one base runner on in four of the final five innings. Senior first baseman
Mike Preite broke up the perfect game with a two-out fifth inning single.
Ithaca's best scoring chance came in the seventh when senior right fielder
Teagen Barresi singled and sophomore third baseman
Colby Gee followed with a double but Barresi was thrown out at home.

Mike Rosenbaum led off the ninth with a single and was bunted to second but St. John Fisher retired the final two batters.
The two teams play a 1 p.m. doubleheader Sunday.
