ITHACA, N.Y. – On June 2, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its academic all-district teams for the 2026 baseball season and four student-athletes from Ithaca College were recognized.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Baseball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
In order to be eligible for this honor, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in academic standing with a GPA over 3.50. A position player must have also competed in at least 90-percent of the team's games or have started in at least 66-percent of the total number of games played. A pitcher must have thrown more than 35 innings or appeared in more than 17 games.
Ithaca's honorees for 2026 are
Ethan Fantel,
Camden Laney,
Lucas Orlovitz and
Jack Picozzi.
Fantel, who is eligible for the first time as a sophomore, posted a 3.9 GPA in sports media. This season, Fantel has been named All-American by D3baseball.com, as well as Liberty League Player of the Year. He posted a .444 average with 58 RBI, 34 runs, 35 walks, 14 doubles and seven home runs in just 35 games played and reached base 58.4% of the time and slugged .742 for an OPS of 1.326.
Laney is a clinical health studies major with a 3.909 GPA through three years on South Hill. He hit .291 this season in 30 games played with 34 hits, 23 runs, 19 RBI and two home runs.
Orlovitz graduated with a 3.864 GPA in sports media and started 28 games in his final season with the program. He hit .382 with 35 runs, 25 RBI, 34 hits and 21 hit by pitches.
Picozzi, a finance major with a 3.702 GPA, went 4-2 this season with a 5.55 ERA in 47.0 innings pitched with 52 strikeouts.
