Gymnasts Place Second at Temple's Liberty Classic

Jessica Bolduc scored 9.500 or higher and placed in the top 10 in all three of her events.

Philadelphia, Pa. – The Ithaca gymnastics team (9-3) went 3-1 by finishing second of five teams at the Liberty Classic, hosted Saturday by Temple. The Bombers scored 184.625, which was only behind the host Owls (190.800). Ithaca defeated Ursinus (183.600), West Chester (178.800) and Wilson (148.050).

The Bombers excelled on the floor exercise, as all five scorers placed in the top 12 and the team scored 47.625 on that event – a season best. Sophomore Kailee Spusta (Palmyra-Macedon/Macedon) was fifth on the floor with a score of 9.675, freshman Jessica Bolduc (Darien/Darien, Conn.) was sixth (9.600) and junior Emily Graber (Smithtown Highland West/St. James) was seventh (9.550).

Bolduc scored 9.500 or better in all three of her events. She placed second overall on the vault with a score of 9.675 and eighth on the uneven bars with a total of 9.500. Senior Roxanne Deshaies (Biddeford/Biddeford, Maine) and senior Frances Ente (Fairfield Warde/Fairfield, Conn.) tied for sixth in the uneven bars.

Junior Brianne Sullivan (Schuylerville/Gansevoort) was Ithaca's top finisher on the balance beam with a score of 9.425.

Ithaca will host the Harriet Marranca Memorial Invitational Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at the Hill Center. Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Brockport will be competing against the Bombers.
