2010: Whiffen competed in vault and uneven bars as a sophomore and was a national-qualifier on vault after scoring 9.25 at the ECAC Championships. She averaged 9.178 on vault for the season, with a season-best score of 9.35 at Ursinus, where she placed fourth. 2009: Whiffen competed on vault and uneven bars for the Bombers as a freshman and was part of Ithaca’s vault and bars lineups at both the ECAC and NCGA championship meets. Whiffen ranked tied for second in scoring average on vault with a 9.2 average over 10 meets. She scored 9.0 or higher in all 10 competitions including a season-best score of 9.45 at the ECAC Championships, where she placed 18th overall. Whiffen averaged 8.82 in nine meets on uneven bars with a season-best score of 9.075 at the Harriett Marranca Invitational. | 2009 Statistics
High School: Whiffen is a 2008 graduate of Sharon High School and competed for coach Lori Clark at Sharon High School and at the club level for the Academy of Gymnastics. She was a Level 9 regional qualifier in 2008 for the Academy of Gymnastics and placed second on the uneven bars at regionals. For the Sharon varsity team, she was a four-time team MVP and two-time league MVP. She earned four league all-star honors and earned a spot on the Massachusetts team for the high school national meet.
Personal: A television/radio major, Samantha is the daughter of Lewis and Donna Whiffen. Her sister Kelly graduated from Ithaca College in 2008 and was a four-year member of the gymnastics team and national qualifier. Her brother Scott also attended Ithaca College.
