Ithaca Gymnastics Defeats Cortland

Justine Picciano scored a career-best 9.6 and won the balance beam against Cortland.

Cortland, N.Y. – The No. 3 Ithaca gymnastics team (14-3) scored its second-highest team total of the season, had the first-place finisher in every event, and wrapped up its regular season with a 186.400-182.65 win at No. 3 Cortland on Saturday. The 14 victories are the third most in program history.

Freshman Jessica Bolduc (Darien/Darien, Conn.) finished first on the vault with a score of 9.6 and floor exercise with a career-best score of 9.675.

Sophomore Justine Picciano (Rush-Henrietta/Rochester) won the balance beam with a score of 9.6. It was the highest score this season on the beam for any Ithaca gymnast and a career-best score for Picciano. Senior Roxanne Deshaies (Biddeford/Biddeford, Maine) won the uneven bars for Ithaca with a score of 9.575. Ithaca swept the top three places on the bars.

The Bombers return to action Saturday at the ECAC Division III Championships at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. The top three team scores from the ECACs qualify for the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association championships in St. Paul, Minn. on March 20-21.
