No. 1 Bombers Pick Up Two More Wins

Sammie Brawn led all Ithaca competitors on the balance beam (9.300).

Springfield, Mass. – The No. 1 Ithaca gymnastics team (13-3) earned wins over Springfield and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Saturday at MIT. The Bombers didn't have a single event champion, but totaled 184.700, bettering Springfield (182.675) and MIT (179.550). Ithaca's 13 wins on the year are tied for fourth most in school history. The Bombers return to action on Saturday in dual meet competition at Cortland.

Bomber senior Roxanne Deshaies (Biddeford/Biddeford, Maine) and freshman Jessica Bolduc (Darien/Darien, Conn.) tied for second on the uneven bars with scores of 9.600.

Ithaca took the second-, third- and fourth-place finishes on the floor exercise. Sophomore Kailee Spusta (Palmyra-Macedon/Macedon) was second with a score of 9.600, junior Emily Graber (Smithtown/St. James) was third with a total of 9.550 and sophomore Justine Picciano (Rush-Henrietta/Rochester) was fourth with a score of 9.475.

Senior Sammie Brawn (Morse/Bath, Maine) led the Bombers on the balance beam by finishing third with a score of 9.300. Sophomore Lauren Ferrone (Whitesboro/Utica) and sophomore Rachel Lamensdorf (Mt. Sinai/Mt. Sinai) tied for fourth at 9.250. Bolduc was Ithaca's top finisher on the vault, in fifth place with a score of 9.325.
