Bombers Win Marranca; Defeat No. 1 and No. 9 Ranked Teams

The Bombers wore pink leotards in an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer research.

ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 2 Ithaca gymnastics team (11-3) scored a season-high score of 186.425 and defeated No. 9 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (182.625) and No. 1 Brockport (182.025) Saturday in the Harriett Marranca Memorial Invitational at Ithaca's Hill Center.

Freshman Lauren Moroch (Bishop George Ahr/Old Bridge, N.J.) and junior Brianne Sullivan (Schuylerville/Gansevoort) tied for first on the balance beam to lead the Bombers to their highest team score on the beam this season (45.975). Sophomore Rachel Lamensdforf (Mount Sinai/Mount Sinai) was fourth with a score of 9.275 and senior Sammie Brawn (Morse/Bath, Maine) was sixth with a score of 9.050.

Senior Frances Ente (Fairfield Warde/Mattapoisett, Mass.) tied for first on the uneven bars with a score of 9.675. Freshman Jessica Bolduc (Darien/Darien, Conn.) was third (9.650) and senior Roxanne Deshaies (Biddeford/Biddeford, Maine) was fifth (9.500).

Sophomore Kailee Spusta (Palmyra-Macedon/Macedon) won the floor exercise with a score of 9.625 and junior Emily Graber (Smithtown/St. James) was second with a score of 9.575. All five Bomber scorers on the floor posted scores of 9.400 or higher. Bolduc was Ithaca's top performer on the vault, with a score of 9.425.

Seniors Brawn, Deshaies and Ente competed in the final home meet of their Bomber careers. Ithaca travels to Cambridge, Mass. Saturday for a tri meet at MIT, beginning at 1 p.m.
