Springfield, Mass. – The No. 2 Ithaca gymnastics team (6-2) lost a dual meet to No. 6 Springfield, 184.950-181.575. Bomber senior Frances Ente (Fairfield Warde/Fairfield, Conn.) won the uneven bars (9.425), junior Brianne Sullivan (Schuylerville/Gansevoort) won the balance beam (9.550), and junior Emily Graber (Smithtown/St. James) tied for first on the floor exercise (9.700) for Ithaca.
Sullivan's winning score on the beam led a first-second-third place sweep for the Bombers as senior Sammie Brawn (Morse/Bath, Maine) scored a season-high 9.425 to finish second and sophomore Justine Picciano (Rush-Henrietta/Rochester) was third with a score of 9.375.
Graber's score on the floor exercise was a season-best. Graber and freshman Jessica Bolduc (Darien/Darien, Conn.) tied for third on the uneven bars with scores of 9.000.
Freshman Kay Gordon (Summit/Breckenridge, Colo.) and freshman Samantha Whiffen (Sharon/Sharon, Mass.) tied for sixth on the vault at 9.200 and were Ithaca's highest scorers in that event.
The Bombers return to action on Saturday at the Temple Invitational, which includes five participating teams.
