Brockport Outscores Ithaca in Season-Opening Meet

Returning all-American Brianne Sullivan won the floor exercise and placed second on the balance beam.

ITHACA, N.Y. - Brockport (1-0) defeated the Ithaca (0-1) gymnastics team 183.300-182.850 in the Bombers' season-opening dual meet Saturday at the Hill Center.

Ithaca outscored Brockport in the uneven bars and vault in the first two rotations. Bomber senior captain Roxanne Deshaies (Biddeford/Biddeford, Maine) won the uneven bars with a score of 9.550. Senior Frances Ente (Fairfield Warde/Mattapoisett, Mass.) was third with a score of 9.375 and freshman Jessica Bolduc (Darien/Darien, Conn.) placed fourth overall with a score of 9.300 in her first varsity meet.

On the vault, Bolduc was second overall with a score of 9.550 and junior Rachel Taylor (San Pasqual/Escondido, Calif.) was third at 9.400.

Junior Brianne Sullivan (Schuylerville/Gansevoort) won the floor exercise with a score of 9.600. Sullivan's total edged junior teammate Emily Graber (Smithtown/St. James) and Brockport's defending national champion Lauren Gildemeyer, who both scored 9.575. It was Graber's career-best score on the floor.

Sullivan was Ithaca's top finisher and placed second on the balance beam with a score of 9.025.

The Bombers return to action on Saturday in a quad meet at Cortland with Southern Connecticut and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
