SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.- The Ithaca College men's rowing team continued their weekend trip in Saratoga, New York following their participation at the Liberty League Championship on Friday. The team performed well and managed to claim victory in the 2V category.
The New York State Rowing Championships featured collegiate teams from across the state. This allowed the Bombers to see a broad variety of competition and face off against some new faces.
Ithaca took part in many categories with the first and second varsity eights competing as well as a novice four.
The first crew to go for the Bombers was the first varsity eight. The Bombers initial heat featured Iona, Hamilton, RIT and Union. The Bombers 1V consisted of
Miles Kenaston,
Riley Maynard,
Jake Lentz,
Wesley Hoglin,
Henry Grant,
Dehron Smith,
Gregg Seiz,
Griffin Hunt, and
Seth Freeman.
In the morning heats, the Bombers finished second after going 6:31.29 trailing behind Iona who went 6:30.29.
The 1V would qualify for the grand final later in the day. Ithaca finished the course in sixth, just behind Vassar.
The NYS Championship 2V lineup for the Bombers featured
Caroline Grass,
Aidan Gardner,
Jonah Alefantis,
James Ross,
Cameron Stanford,
Tristan Dole,
Bryce Williston,
Cameron Strong, and
Caleb Grassi. The 2V would only have one race which would serve as the finals.
The 2V faced off against Saint Lawrence, RIT, Hamilton, Army, and Vassar. The 2V placed first securing the gold medals. The crew went 6:37.69 and edged out St. Lawrence by about seven seconds.
The last race of the day for the Bombers featured the novice four. This crew went head-to-head with the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The Bombers lineup featured

Ashan Chandrasena,
Jacob Makofske, Brady Anderson, and
Matthew Doherty.
The novices would fall to their opponent, taking second, but finished the course in 8:44.66.
All in all, it was a great day for the team as they took down some new competition and had some strong races. The 2V was able to secure some new hardware, taking home the gold medals.
The team will travel home to prepare for next weekend's race in Worcester, Massachusetts at the NIRC Championship. Races are scheduled for next Friday with action getting underway around 8 a.m.
