Men’s Rowing Crowned Liberty League Champions

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Ithaca College men's rowing team delivered a strong performance on Friday morning at the Liberty League Championships in Saratoga Springs, sweeping all three events to claim its third-straight Liberty League title.

Racing in fair conditions with flat water and a swirling cross breeze, Ithaca set the tone early. The first varsity eight jumped out to an immediate lead, with Skidmore College rowing maintaining early contact. Despite navigating challenging wake through the middle portion of the race, the Bombers extended their advantage to open water by the halfway mark and never looked back, crossing the line with an eight-second victory. The win marks Ithaca's third consecutive Liberty League title in the event.

The second varsity eight followed with an equally composed performance. Establishing control off the start, the Bombers settled into a clean, efficient rhythm while fending off an early push from Skidmore. Ithaca steadily increased its margin over the course of the race, ultimately securing a decisive 10-second win.

In the final race of the day, the third varsity four looked to avenge an earlier-season loss to University of Rochester rowing. An aggressive start put Ithaca up by a length early, and the crew maintained that momentum throughout, powering down the course to a commanding nine-second victory.

The sweep marks the first time in program history that Ithaca has won all contested events at the Liberty League Championships.

"We faced some real adversity late in the week with illness and injury forcing lineup changes, but I'm incredibly proud of how the group responded," said head coach Justin Stangel. "They stayed confident, trusted each other, and executed when it mattered most. That belief across the team really showed in how we raced today."

Ithaca now turns its attention to the IRA National Championship, set for May 29–30 in Sacramento.
