ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's rowing team honored their seniors as they raced against Skidmore College in the final home race of the season. Races took place throughout the morning and early afternoon, with the ceremony rounding out the day.   
 
The team honored its seniors after the races ceased. All of the seniors have made valuable contributions to the team throughout their years with the program. The following seniors were honored: 
 
Dehron Smith joined the team as a novice upon coming to the South Hill in 2019.  Since then, he has been a major contributor to the team and has helped the squad win many medals and races. Last summer, he competed for the Bahamas at the 2022 World Rowing Under 23 Championships. Dehron is the son of Shirley and Berlin Smith. 
 
Henry Grant came to the South Hill with prior rowing experience. Henry has made valuable contributions for the Bombers and has raced in many key races including the Head of the Charles Regatta.  
 
Gregg Seiz, one of the Bombers captains this year, has been a major piece of the team since coming to IC. Gregg came to the South Hill with prior rowing experience and has been a key contributor to the 1V.  
 
Seth Freeman began his rowing career as a novice and quickly picked up the sport. Seth was named captain last spring and has helped lead the Bombers over the last year. He has been a crucial piece to both the 1V and 2V lineups. Seth is the son of Paul and Bini Freeman. 
 
Jake Lentz joined the Bombers in his first year as an experienced rower. Jake rowed for Barrington High School before attending Ithaca College. On the South Hill, he has been a leader and vital part of the team. Jake is currently a captain for the team and has led the squad over the last year. Jake is the son of Kate and Parish Lentz. 
 
As for the day's racing, the conditions were great. Temperatures were in the mid-70s, and a sunny sky stretched over the course. There was a tailwind coming down the course at some points throughout the racing. 
 
The first race of the day for the men was the varsity eight race. This week's 1V featured Caroline Grass, Jake Lentz, Gregg Seiz, Dehron Smith, Wesley Hoglin, Henry Grant, James Ross, Griffin Hunt, and Seth Freeman. The 2V included Miles Kenaston, Riley Maynard, Jonah Alefantis, Aidan Gardner, Cameron Stanford, Tristan Dole, Bryce Williston, Cameron Strong, and Caleb Grassi 
 
This three laned race featured the Ithaca 1V, 2V, and Skidmore's 1V. The Bombers took down Skidmore by a comfortable margin. The 1V completed the course in 6:09.8 and the 2V went 6:20.8. Skidmore's crew completed the course in 6:36.3. 
 
The next and final race for Ithaca was the novice four. The crew fell short of Skidmore but completed the course in 7:32.7. The novice lineup featured Emma Kelly, Maxwell Vallino, Calvin LaPierre, Ethan Revis, and Matthew Doherty.  
 
It was an overall great day on the South Hill as the Bombers' varsity boats took down Skidmore. The Bombers will train this week as they prepare for their first road trip of the season. The team will travel to Worcester, Massachusetts as they are set to face off against WPI.
