Men's Rowing Concludes Fall Racing at the Touchdown Regatta

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca College men's rowing team wrapped up the fall season on their home water racing in Cornell's annual Touchdown Regatta. The race consists of a 3k meter head race as well as a 300 meter sprint piece on the way back to the docks.

For the Bombers, many rowers raced twice in both fours (4+) and eights (8+). The competition for the men included Cornell's heavyweights and lightweights, RIT, Hobart, Mercyhurst, and Bucknell.

The first event of the day for IC was the men's four. The Bombers had three entries in the category. The first lineup (Ithaca A) featured coxswain Miles Kenaston and rowers Gregg Seiz, Colin McCarthy, Jake Lentz, and Seth Freeman. The second IC four (Ithaca B) included coxswain Sami Smith and rowers Wesley Hoglin, Henry Grant, James Ross, and Griffin Hunt. Finally, the Bombers third crew (Ithaca C) in the category featured coxswain Caroline Grass, and rowers Riley Maynard, Jonah Alefantis, Aidan Gardner, and Cameron Stanford.

Ithaca's A boat finished the course in 14:12.5, taking sixth-place while the B boat finished ninth with a final time of 14:27.8. The C boat for the Bombers finished the course in 14:52.10.

The Bomber's first year rowers saw their inaugural collegiate racing experience, rowing in the novice eight category. The crew finished the 3k course in 16:20.3.

The last event of the day was the men's eight. The Bombers raced two crews in this category. The first crew (Ithaca A) featured Miles Kenaston, Gregg Seiz, Colin McCarthy, Wesley Hoglin, Griffin Hunt, James Ross, Dehron Smith, Seth Freeman, and Jake Lentz. The second crew (Ithaca B) included Sami Smith, Riley Maynard, Henry Grant, Aidan Gardner, Jonah Alefantis, Maxwell Vallino, Cameron Stanford, Cameron Strong, and Caleb Grassi.

The Bombers A boat finished the course in 12:45.40, finishing in seventh-place just behind Hobart by a margin of about three seconds. The Bombers B boat took a final time of 13:30.10, taking 14th place.

All in all, it was a solid showing from the Bombers in the fall season finale at the Touchdown Regatta. The team will shift their focus towards winter training where they will prepare for the spring sprint season.
