CLIFTON SPRINGS, N.Y. – On Saturday, August 28, the Ithaca College women's golf team took part in the college's first official fall competition since November as IC faced off against William Smith at the Clifton Springs Country Club. Ithaca left victorious on Saturday with a score of 345 (+57) while William Smith shot 376 (+88) on the par-72, 5,614-yard course.
Ithaca claimed the top three spots on the leaderboard and
Mary Gersec led the pack, recording a score of 84 (+12). Gersec carded six pars on the day, with three being consecutive on holes five, six and seven. She also shot a birdie on the 174-yard par-3 4th.
Cristea Park closely followed Gersec, shooting 85 (+13). Park shot par four times during the round and tallied two birdies on the 3rd (330-yard par-4) and 14th (498-yard par-5).
Rheanna DeCrow made her collegiate debut on Saturday and was not far behind her top two teammates, shooting 87 (+15). DeCrow recorded par five times on the day and shot a birdie on the final hole (412-yard par-5).
Caitlin McGrinder and
Katherine Chan finished in fifth and sixth on Saturday. McGrinder shot 89 (=17) with pars on three holes, along with a birdie on the 13th (143-yard par-3). Chan tied for sixth with William Smith's Justine Burness, shooting 90 (+18). Chan, who did not compete in the abbreviated 2021 spring season, carded par on four holes and shot a birdie on the 2nd (411-yard par-5).
Ithaca will play its next match at St. Lawrence University on Saturday, September 4 in Canton, N.Y.
