CANTON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College golf team opened its 2026-27 season at the St. Lawrence University over the weekend at Appleton Golf Course and finished third overall with a two-round score of 627 (+51).
New York University took the top two spots as the Violets' 'A' team carded 574 and the 'B' group shot 588. Appleton GC is a par-72 course that measures 5830 yards and a total of 40 golfers were in action this weekend.
The Bombers shot 315 (+27) on Saturday and concluded the weekend with 312 (+24) on Sunday as four of IC's five golfers finished within the top 19.
Helena Winterberg was the top individual performer as she tied for 11th with a 155 (+11). Winterberg shot an 81 on Saturday and followed up with a 74 on Sunday as she holed four birdies and an eagle in the tournament.
Abby Bladen was a stroke back in a tie for 13th with 156 (+12) with back-to-back rounds of 78. Bladen fired a pair of birdies on Saturday and then parred 15 holes on Sunday.
Brianna Morrison finished a shot back of Bladen in a tie for 15th with 157 (+13) as she started off strong with a 75 on Saturday, but fell back six spots on Sunday with an 82. Morrison recorded three birdies over the weekend.
Annelise Stencel shot a pair of 81s for a 162 (+18) to finish 19th overall as she notched three birdies.
Hayden Homann completed her first collegiate tournament and placed 23rd with 170 (+26). After a 91 on Saturday, Homann shaved 12 strokes off to card a 79 on Sunday with two birdies.
