ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's and women's crew teams were proud to begin their mornings, and the first regatta in well over a year, on the Cayuga Inlet at the Robert B. Tallman Boathouse on April 3 against RIT and Colgate (women only).
In the 11AM regatta start, the Men's 3
rd Varity 8+ went head-to-head against RIT. The latter bested the Bombers by 24 seconds (7:41.2 to 8:05.0). But the Bombers soon brought home victory in the noon race, as the Men's Varsity 8+ beat RIT with a 6:23.1 time and strong cadence. The Men's 2
nd Varsity 8+ at 12:15PM brought home another Bomber victory as well, boasting a 6:54.4 time against the Tigers.
Women's 2
nd Varsity 8+ rowed against both RIT and Colgate in the 11:15AM heat, coming in first at 7:48.1. The coxless 4+ team triumphed over Colgate in the W4 event by 24 seconds. The Women's 3
rd Varsity/Novice 8+ team brough in some major success against RIT. The Bombers A team boasted 8:19.9 and B team closing in behind with 8:27.4, keeping a great race pace for the entire course. The last event for the Women's Varsity 8 was the 12:40 PM heat versus Colgate and RIT. Ithaca coming in first, 10 seconds ahead of both competitors.
Next weekend, the women battle against Canisius and Mercyhurst in Buffalo, while men host Bucknell at home, on the Cayuga Inlet. On April 17
th, the Men's team will host Hobart College and the Women's team will host William Smith College for a regatta on the famed Cayuga Inlet.
