Oneonta, N.Y.--The Bombers (6-10, 4-1 New York Region) collected 12 hits en route to a 10-3 victory over Oneonta (12-4) Tuesday afternoon. Senior righthander Tom Fishback (Penfield/Webster) picked up his third straight win, while junior Trevor Wolf (Lansing/Freeville) and freshman Matt Keller (Pelham/Pelham) and Sean Weber (Columbia/East Schodack) all had two-hit games.
Fishback, the Bombers' leader in wins, threw 7.2 innings against the Red Dragons. He struck out four and allowed just one extra base hit. In a team 37.2 innings pitched on the season, Fishback has a 2.63 earned run average.
Ithaca scored four runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-0 lead over Oneonta. Senior catcher Mike Armstrong (Penfield/Penfield) hit a one out single, with senior Jon Krakower (The Berkshire School/Albany) and junior Matt Streich (East Greenwich/East Greenwich, R.I.) following with back-to-back walks to load the bases. Senior #T.J. Abone# (Rome Free Academy/Rome) drove in Armstrong with a sacrifice fly to right field and junior David Ahonen (Victor/Farmington) picked up a pair of RBI on a single to left center.
The Red Dragons cut the lead in half with a two run bottom of the fifth. After Wolf singled to lead of the top of the sixth, Ithaca got three straight doubles from Weber, Keller and junior Jarrod Surine (Trumansburg/Trumansburg) to go up 7-2. After stealing third, Surine scored the Bombers' eighth run on a wild pitch.
Oneonta scored a run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the inning. Ithaca added an insurance run in both the eight and ninth innings, with Streich and Armstrong each driving in a run.
Ithaca is batting .340 over its last five games, in which they have gone 4-1. Abone leads the team with a .500 batting average over that period, while Ahonen, Armstrong, Streich and Surine are all hitting above .300.
The Bombers return to action Saturday and Sunday with a pair of doubleheaders against Utica in the team's first home games of the season.
