Corinna Doctor's 22 digs were a season-high.
Schenectady, N.Y.—Ithaca (13-13) won its second match at Union's Interleague Challenge, downing Potsdam (14-9) 19-25, 25-18, 25-18, 26-24. The Bombers went 2-0 on their first day of play at the tournament, with matches against Skidmore and Union set for Saturday.

Up 2-1 in the match, Ithaca fell behind by scores 21-16 and 22-17 in the fourth set. With freshman Elizabeth Previte (Hunterdon/Flemington, N.J.) and junior Corinna Doctor (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) serving, the Bombers engineered a 7-2 run, taking the lead on an ace from Doctor. After a Potsdam kill, the Bombers took the set and the match on a kill from freshman Chelsea Hayes (Northern Valley Regional/Haworth, N.J.) and a Bear attack error.

After dropping the first set, the Bombers broke a 16-16 tie on an ace from sophomore Taylor Horton (Lakeridge/Lake Oswego, Ore.). Junior Jen Heberton (Darien/Darien, Conn.) picked up three of her team-high 20 kills as part of a 9-2 run that closed the set for the Bombers.

After trailing for most of the third set, the Bombers took their first lead on a Potsdam error that made the score 15-14. The point was one of seven straight that put Ithaca up 20-14. Though the Bears picked up the next two points, Ithaca never led by fewer than five points for the remainder of the set, winning on a kill from Heberton.

Defensively, sophomore Tina Orlandini (Flintridge Sacred Heart/Altadena, Calif.) and Doctor led the Bombers with 26 and 22 digs, respectively. Doctor also recorded a team-best 43 assists.
