ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College gymnastics team posted its best meet by far this season at the annual Harriet Marranca Memorial Invitational inside Ben Light Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon as the Bombers earned a team score of 192.250, narrowly missing the school record of 192.325. Additionally, IC set a new school mark on the balance beam with 48.825 and
Nicole Lonski broke the school bars record with 9.825.
The Bombers opened the invitational on vault and scored 47.325.
Nicole Lonski turned in a tremendous routine of 9.700 for pace IC in the event, while
Kaylie Goodwin scored 9.475.
Samantha Nothnagel followed with a 9.450 and
Nya Pauldon scored 9.375.
Skye Cohen rounded on the top five with 9.325.
Grace Murray also scored over 9.0 with a 9.125.
Cassidy Gallivan earned a 9.200 in an exhibition routine.
Brockport scored 47.800 on bars during the first rotation, while RIC earned 47.575 on beam and Ursinus had 47.500 on floor.
IC continued to show its improvement on bars and posted a season-high of 47.925 as Lonski set a new school record with a 9.825 routine, besting the previous mark of 9.800 turned in by Courtney Christoforo in 2020.
Julia O'Sullivan landed with a 9.600 from the judges, while Goodwin and
Zoe Kyriakopoulos were each awarded 9.525.
Marlena Bailey contributed a score of 9.450 and Cohen finished with 9.200.
Cameryn Nichols and
Mary Collier competed in exhibitions and scored 9.300 and 9.350.
Brockport continued to lead after round two with 48.250 on beam (96.025) and RIC stayed in second with 48.075 on floor (95.650). Ursinus scored 47.075 on vault (94.575).
Ithaca then moved over to beam for the third rotation and set a new school record with a 48.825, surpassing the previous best of 48.300 at Cornell last year. Through three rotations, IC had 144.075 and moved into second place. Nichols tied her own school record with 9.850, while
Emily Kobusky nearly matched that with 9.825. Goodwin earned 9.775 and Cohen was awarded 9.750. Kyriakopoulos finished with 9.625 and
Caitlin Pellegrino scored 9.250. Pauldon picked up a routine of 9.400 in an exhibition.
Brockport stayed ahead with 48.650 on floor (144.700), RIC fell back to third with 46.825 on vault (142.475) and Ursinus had 46.850 on bars (141.425).
IC finished up the meet with 48.175 on the floor to account for the 192.250 final tally. All six gymnasts scored over 9.375 as Nichols was tops with 9.750. Lonski and Murray each earned 9.700, while
Abby Chesshire was awarded 9.525. Pellegrino secured a routine of 9.500 and Cohen received 9.375.
Brockport would win the meet with 193.250 after scoring 48.550 on vault. Ursinus finished in third with 188.725 as the Bears concluded the meet with 47.250 on beam. RIC came in fourth with 187.500 after a score of 45.025 on bars.
The Bombers head to Cortland next Sunday, February 26 and then return back to South Hill for Senior Day on March 5 against Springfield.
