ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College gymnastics team continued to improve as their season moves along, as the Bombers scored another season-high with 190.925 to 185.000 for SUNY Cortland in the annual Rumble & Tumble inside Ben Light Gymnasium on February 15.
The Bombers came out strong with 47.600 on vault to build a 3.1-point lead (Cortland finished bars with 44.5000) as all six gymnasts scored over 9.325.
Nicole Lonski was the top performer with a 9.625, while
Nya Pauldon was close behind with 9.575.
Skye Cohen turned in a routine of 9.525 and
Samantha Nothnagel was next in line at 9.450.
Cassidy Gallivan added 9.425 for IC and
Kaylie Goodwin concluded the rotation with 9.325.
IC and Cortland flipped events for the second rotation and the Bombers continued their stellar evening with a 47.000. Cortland bested IC's score on vault with 47.675, but still trailed the overall dual at 94.600 to 92.175.
Goodwin and
Zoe Kyriakopoulos tied for the top score for IC with 9.525, while
Marlena Bailey landed with a 9.375.
Julia O'Sullivan was then awarded 9.325 and Cohen closed out the top five scores with 9.250.
Ithaca moved over to the beam in the third rotation and received 47.775, compared to Cortland's 47.700 on floor, to make it a 142.375 to 139.875 difference heading into the final rotation of the night.
Emily Kobusky posted IC's best score of the evening up to that point with 9.750, while Goodwin was second in the rotation at 9.550.
Caitlin Pellegrino and
Cameryn Nichols both earned 9.500 and Kyriakopoulos was right behind with 9.475. Cohen rounded out the event with 9.050.
IC put the meet away with a near school record on floor with 48.550 to secure the meet, 190.925 to 185.000. The Ithaca school record is 48.775.
Nichols led the charge with 9.800, while Lonski was second for IC at 9.725. Cohen finished in a close third for the Bombers with 9.700 and Pellegrino turned in 9.6756.
Grace Murray and
Abby Chesshire wrapped up the meet with 9.650 and 9.600.
The Bombers host a quad meet on Saturday for the annual Harriet Marranca Memorial Invitational.
