CANTON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's tennis team opened its 2022 season on Saturday, September 10 competing in the first day of the St. Lawrence University Fall Classic. The Bombers head into day two of the invitational with several doubles teams and two individuals still competing for medal contention.
Junior
Nicolas Luis won his first match in the "A Flight" singles, 8–3, over Hamilton's Anson Anderson. He was then defeated in a close match, 8–7 in the next round by Union's Giannos Binopoulos.
First year
Jimin Woo won his first career match for Ithaca with an 8–7 win over Union's Aidan O'Brien in the "B Flight" of singles play. He lost in the next round, 8–3, to Hamilton's Eric Stein.
Luis and Woo combined to take down Union's Christian Crowder and Ryan Dagan , 8–2, in the first round of the "B doubles" flight. They faced off against Rochester's John Hui and Ahaan Malhotra and beat them 8-2 and will play Esposito and Gritz from Hamilton in the semifinals of their respective flight.
Juniors
Jacob Wachs and
Deon Kraft each won their first match of the "D singles" consolation flight. Wachs defeated RIT's Connor White, 8–6, in a tight match and Kraft dominated with an 8–3 win over St. Lawrence's Will de Chabert.
Day two of the St. Lawrence Fall Invitational continues Sunday.
