ITHACA, N.Y. – Fresh off the program's first-ever Liberty League championship, the Ithaca College (30-12) baseball team found out on Monday afternoon that the Bombers will be playing Montclair State University (31-11) in their first game of the NCAA Division III Regional hosted by Immaculata University this Friday, May 20.

Host Immaculata (28-12) will take on Keystone College (24-18) in its opening round matchup on Friday. The winner of this regional will move on to play against the winner of the Shenandoah University pod in a two-team, best-of-three series Super Regional.

Shenandoah is hosting Catholic University, Stevens Institute of Technology and St. Joseph's – Long Island.

The NCAA announced its completed field of 60 teams, which is made up of 40 automatic bids and 20 at-large picks during the Selection Show. The championship has been broken down into 14 regional sites across the country with a double-elimination format and two sites which will play a best-of-five series. Winners from the regional play will move onto Super Regional next weekend. The national championship tournament will be played from June 3-8 at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Ithaca (30-12) will be making its 49th all-time trip to the NCAA Division III Championship. IC made 10 appearances (1955, 1959, 1962, 1964, 1967, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1973, 1974) prior to 1976, which is when the NCAA established Division III. The Bombers earned the Liberty League's automatic bid by sweeping the postseason championship with a 7-5 victory over Clarkson and then defeated Rochester, 8-7 and 18-5.

IC is 126-97 all-time in the NCAA Tournament and has won two national titles – 1980 and 1988. Outside of the two championships, Ithaca has been the national runners-up on three other occasions – 1976, 1981 and 1986.
