Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca College men's tennis team swept the visiting Houghton College Highlanders 9-0 in Glazer Arena Tuesday afternoon. Junior Max Sobel and first year Tyler Del Zoppo took home wins in both singles and doubles to bring the Bombers to a record 7-4 on the season.Â
Junior Wyman Ward and sophomore Nicolas Luis notched the most dominant doubles win of the afternoon in the third spot, taking down opponents Adam Brown and Matt Cicero 8-1.Â
Sophomores Eric Dubilirer and Deon Kraft picked up another win for Ithaca at first doubles. The pair took down Houghton's Levi Webb and Nolan Zach 8-2.Â
Sobel and Del Zoppo recorded another doubles win for the Bombers, defeating the Highlanders' second doubles team 8-4.Â
Del Zoppo grabbed the first singles win of the afternoon over Houghton's Brown 6-0, 6-1 in the fourth slot, just the second singles win of the first-year's collegiate career.Â
Khaybullin secured the team win for Ithaca next, besting his opponent 6-3, 6-0 at second singles. Â
Junior Jacob Wachs took down the Highlander's Cicero in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 at third singles.Â
Next up, in the first singles spot, graduate student Minos Stavrakas dispatched Houghton's Micah Schilke in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.Â
First year Daniel Borenius recorded his first collegiate singles win in the final singles slot by defeating his Houghton opponent 6-1, 6-0.Â
At fifth singles, Sobel notched his first singles win of the season against the Highlanders in straight sets 6-1, 6-3.Â
Ithaca host Union College this Sunday, April 3, in the Bombers second conference matchup of the season. Start time is slated for 2 p.m.
