Leonard-Osbourne, Jones, Matheny, Tobia, Johnston and Lowell Take Home Liberty League Honors

ITHACA, N.Y. – As announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon a whole host of Bombers earned honors from the Liberty League for their outstanding performances during the week of Jan. 24-30. Matthew Johnston from the men's swimming & diving program garnered his first swimmer of the week distinction, while Ava Lowell once again captured Liberty League Diver of the Week. From the women's indoor track & field program, Tia Jones was enshrined as Track Performer of the Week and Meghan Matheny earned Field Performer of the Week. Meanwhile for the men's track & field team, Jalen Leonard-Osbourne and Luke Tobia each earned recognition from the conference office for the second time this year.

Men's Swimming & Diving: Performer of the Week – Matthew Johnston
A key contributor in helping his team to the impressive 215-64 dual win over Union College on Saturday Matt Johnston won two individual events for the first time in his collegiate career. Johnston was the fastest in the 200-yard freestyle with a recorded time of 1:47.34 and his 4:52.54 in the 500-yard freestyle was over five seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

Women's Swimming & Diving: Diver of the Week – Ava Lowell
Lowell put together a season-best six dive total of 290.93 in the one-meter event at the dual against Union College to win the event. She finished second on the three-meter board behind teammate Karalyn Pawcio totaling a finals score of 273.75.

Men's Track & Field: Track Performer of the Week – Jalen Leonard-Osbourne

Jalen Leonard-Osbourne once again broke his own school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.79 seconds at the Nazareth College Challenge Cup on Saturday. Leonard-Osbourne has bested his own school standard in consecutive weeks, and in the process, set a new meet and facility record and moved up to No. 2 on the Division III list.

Men's Track & Field: Field Performer of the Week – Luke Tobia

IC met eight AARTFC-qualifying standards on Saturday at Nazareth and set a second meet record in the weight throw, which belonged to Luke Tobia. In that event, Tobia measured out 17.78 (58' 4") to win by 1.38 meters (4' 6.25") and is now 11th in Division III.

Women's Track & Field: Track Performer of the Week – Tia Jones

Tia Jones met two AARTFC standards and set two meet records at the Nazareth College Challenge Cup on Saturday. Jones won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.71 seconds, which currently ranked No. 3 in the country, and she finished first in the 200-meter dash in 25.63 seconds to moved up to No. 7.

Women's Track & Field: Field Performer of the Week – Meghan Matheny

Meghan Matheny, who finished first in the pole vault, cleared 3.93 meters in the event to win convincingly and just missed her personal best of 3.97 meters, and in the process, moved up to the No. 1 spot on the Division III list at the Nazareth College Challenge Cup on Saturday.

HONOR ROLL

Luka Radovich played in two of Ithaca's three games this week and averaged 23.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 1.5 assists. Radovich went 16-for-30 from the field, 7-for-15 from 3-point range and 8-for-10 at the free throw line. He netted 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting with four rebounds, two steals and two steals in a 73-65 win against Hobart. Radovich then dropped 27 points on 8-for-15 from the field and was 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and was a perfect 6-for-6 at the line. He also notched five steals in the 73-71 loss to RPI.

Effective and productive week for Grace Cannon as she helped lead the Bombers to their 10th-straight win, which included a 76-54 victory over nationally ranked St. John Fisher. Cannon averaged 11.6 points per game as she was only on the floor for 16.6 minutes during the three-game stretch. She shot 14-of-30 from the field and also grabbed 10 rebounds during the week.

Helping his team to the impressive 215-64 dual win over Union College on Saturday, Ben Young was impressive in the 100-yard butterfly. The first-year swam a season-best time of 53.14 to win the event over Tim Hector who was right on his heels with a time of 53.21.

Competing in the final tune-up before the 2022 Liberty League Championships, it was a strong competitive day for Emily VanderSleen putting together first-place finishes in three separate individual events as well as took part in the 400-yard medley relay win against Union College on Saturday.  VanderSleen (24.76) won the 50-yard freestyle bested a teammate in the 100-yard event (56.49) and then won the 100-yard butterfly with a recorded time of 1:01.66.
