Box Score HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's tennis team made their long-awaited return to competition on Wednesday afternoon, as the Bombers traveled to Houghton College for a non-conference match and came away with a 9-0 sweep. Wednesday's contest was the first for IC since March 11, 2020.

The victory also marks the first career win for head coach Chris Hayes '16.

IC jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play as third doubles, George Lomas and Nicolas Luis dispatched their Highlander counterparts, 8-0. Second doubles partners Eric Dubilirer and Anthony Villella also swept their way to victory, 8-0. First doubles of Minos Stavrakas and Deon Kraft concluded the early matches with an 8-3 win.

The momentum continued into singles play as Deon Kraft was the first Bomber to finish at fifth singles, 6-1, 6-1. Artem Khaybullin closed out his match at fourth singles shortly after, 6-1, 6-2, to secure the overall match win.

At sixth singles, Jacob Wachs rolled to the season-opening triumph, 6-2, 6-2, while Stavrakas prevailed, 6-1, 6-4, at first singles.

IC finished off the match with a 6-1, 6-4 win at third singles by Luis and 6-3, 6-3 from Lomas at second singles.

Ithaca competes against on April 3 at home against Vassar College in its Liberty League opener. The women's team will also compete that day as match time starts are set for 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
