Men's Tennis | 4/20/2016 6:57:00 PM

ITHACA, N.Y. —Senior Chris Hayes picked up a pair of wins against Hartwick College Wednesday afternoon and earned his 100th career victory as the Ithaca College men's tennis team swept Hartwick College 9-0 at the Wheeler Tennis Courts.

Hayes, who has earned first-team All-Empire 8 honors at both singles and doubles every year at Ithaca, posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at first singles and teamed with junior Wes Davis on an 8-0 win at first doubles to reach 100 career wins.

"Getting to 100 wins was one of my personal goals coming into this spring season and it's a really special accomplishment," Hayes said. "I'm really happy that I get to share it with great teammates to. It does mean a lot to me because when you look at the records and some of the names there, it's pretty surreal to see yours right there with them. Now it's time to finish the season strong and get some quality wins down the stretch."

It was the fourth straight win and fourth straight sweep for the Bombers (8-5, 5-1 Empire 8), who remained in second place in the Empire 8.

Ithaca lost only one game while sweeping the three doubles matches, and only 11 games in sweeping the six singles matches.

Davis secured a 6-2, 6-4 win at second singles, junior Nate Wolf prevailed 6-0, 6-0 at third singles, and classmate Brandon Buksbaum earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at fourth singles.

Sophomore Lorenzo Viguie-Ramos earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at fifth singles, while freshman Stefan Lazarevic won 6-0, 6-0 at sixth singles for IC.

In other doubles action, Lazarevic and Viguie-Ramos triumphed by an 8-1 score at the second flight, while Wolf and Buksbaum secured an 8-0 win at the third flight to complete the sweep.

The Bombers travel to Hamilton College for a 10 a.m. non-conference match Saturday before welcoming Utica College to campus at 12 p.m. Sunday.
