Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College baseball team dropped a 5-2 decision to St. John Fisher on Senior Day at Freeman Field on Sunday afternoon. Ithaca is 12-13 on the season with five more regular season games to play before the Empire 8 Conference Tournament.
Fisher scored the first run of the game with a two-out double in the top of the first. The final out was recorded at third base during the run-scoring double as a Cardinals' runner attempted to move up on the throw home.
The Cardinals scored two more runs in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead on a two-run double that hit off the left field wall. Runners were one first and second at the time of the pitch. Fisher's lead increased to 5-0 in the eighth on three hits.
Ithaca finally got on the board in the bottom of the eighth with two runs on one hit. Senior
Matt Connolly reached on an error to start the inning and then classmate
Christian Brown followed with a double. Connolly came home on an RBI ground out by junior Zach Pidegon and Brown scored on another ground out off the bat of sophomore
Josh Savacool.
The Bombers' comeback bid was halted in the ninth as the side was retired in order.

Brandon Diorio took the loss on the mound for Ithaca in 7.1 innings pitched. Diorio struck out one batter and allowed five earned runs on eight hits and two walks. Freshman
Jim Sinopoli tossed one-third of an innings before senior
Jared Amory entered for the final 1.1 innings of work.
Brown paced the offense with a 2-for-4 afternoon and a run scored. Savacool and senior
Brian Burns recorded Ithaca's other two hits in the game.
Ithaca is back in action tomorrow at Freeman Field for a game against Elmira. First pitch will be thrown at 4 p.m.
