Ithaca Baseball Wins 30th Game Of Season; Beats York 6-5

ITHACA, N.Y. –- The 18th-ranked Ithaca College baseball team used seven hits to score six runs and went on to a 6-5 victory over York (Pa.) on Sunday afternoon at Freeman Field. The win improves the Bombers' record to 30-6 on the season. It is the first time since 2006 that the team has won 30 games. The Bombers return to play Monday against the Cortland Red Dragons at Freeman Field at 4 p.m.

The Ithaca offense got on the board early with two runs in the bottom half of the first inning. The first two batters of the inning reached base as Christian Brown singled through the left side and Tim Locastro was hit by a pitch. Two batters later, Corey Caswell walked to load the bases, and set up a two-out scoring opportunity for the Bombers. Vinny Gneo capitalized with a single through the left side to score both Brown and Locastro.

The Bombers added two more runs in the second. Luke Stark singled to start the inning, then Locastro slugged a two-run home run over the left field wall to extend the Ithaca advantage to 4-0.

Ithaca added two more runs in the fourth as Stark singled and Brown hit the Bombers second two-run home run of the game to extend the Ithaca lead to 6-1.

Brown and Stark each had two hits in the game and also scored two runs. Brown, Locastro, and Vinny Gneo each had two RBIs. Locastro scored two runs to increase his season total to 53, good for third in the nation.

Jasper Adams earned the win on the mound for the Bombers to improve to 4-0. He went 7.1 innings, allowing four runs, and striking out three. Matt Colbert and Andrew Sanders finished up on the mound for Ithaca. Colbert allowed one run and struck out one in one inning. Sanders earned the save after getting the final two outs of the ninth inning.
