Bombers Roll To 40-3 Wrestling Win At Oneonta

Oneonta, N.Y. -- The fifth-ranked wrestling team (10-2) scored bonus points in five of nine victories en route to a 40-3 win at Oneonta (5-8).

The Bombers picked up three pins and a pair of technical falls in the win. Senior Seth Ecker (Pottstown/Pottstown, Pa.) recorded his team-best third technical fall of the season, opening up an 18-2 lead by the end of the first period. Ecker, the defending national champion at 133 pounds, is ranked third at 141 pounds; He raised his season record to 20-4 (10-1 in dual meets) and moved to within two victories of becoming the program's 18th wrestler to win 100 matches. His career mark is 98-20.

Senior Jeremy Stierly (Owen J. Roberts/Pottstown, Pa.) was a technical fall winner at 149 pounds. Stierly, who was wrestling for just the second time all season, was leading 17-1 after two periods. Stierly, 2-0 this year, is 81-17 in his Bomber career.

Ithaca's three falls came from Nick Sanko (Hamburg Area/Lenhartsville, Pa.), freshman Grant Dickey (Cedar Cliff/Mechanicsburg, Pa.and senior Matt Mahon (Brighton/Rochester).

Sanko, a graduate student, pinned his opponent at 165 pounds in 4:43. He improved to 10-2 this winter (8-1 in duals) with his firt fall of the year. Sanko owns a career record of 46-21.

Dickey collected his third pin of the season, winning in 2:11 at 174 pounds. He evened his record at 11-11.

Wrestling at heavyweight, Mahon pinned his ninth opponent of the year (second on the team) and became the second Bomber to record 50 career pns. He's now 19-7 on the year and 84-33 in his cour-year career.

Four other Bombers were winners by decision.

At 125 pounds, senior Max Cohen (Williamsville East/Amherst) was a 15-8 winner to raise his season record to 7-8. He's 31-33 overall as a Bomber.

Freshman Marvin Amazan (Uniondale/Hempstead) picked up his first career dual-meet victory, edgin his opponent at 141 pounds 5-3 in overtime. Amazan owns a season record of 7-8.

Junior Keith Dickey (Cedar Cliff/Mechanicsburg, Pa.) is now 10-7 on the year after notching a 6-3 win at 184 pounds. In his Bomber career he's gone 28-24, including a 10-7 mark this year. Dickey is 4-0 in dual-meet competition.

At 197 pounds, sophomore Shane Bartrum (Oswego/Oswego) won 6-3 to raise his record to 8-9 (5-4 in duals). Bartrum is 23-24 in his career.

The Bombers are idle until hosting #29 Stevens a week from Friday.
