Utica, N.Y. -- The baseball team (11-10, 4-3 Empire 8) hammered Utica (2-19, 1-4 Empire 8) 10-0 in a shortened opener to Monday's scheduled doubleheader (the game was halted with Ithaca batting in the top of the seventh). Game two was postponed because of the weather and no make-up date has been announced.
Sophomore
Pat Lemmo (Westhill/Syracuse) threw his first career shutout, raising his record to 2-0 with a complete-game four-hitter. He struck out five Pioneers and didn't walk a batter.
Lemmo has recorded four straight socreless appearances on the mound, allowing six hits and two walks over 15.2 innings.
Junior second baseman
Matt Keller (Pelham/Pelham) led the offense with a three-for-four outing. He scored two runs. Senior first baseman
Trevor Wolf (Lansing/Freeville) added two hits, two runs scored and two runs batted in.
Junior left fielder
Teagen Barresi (Lansing/Lansing) and junior designated hitter Michael Rosenbaum
(Fayetteville-Manlius/Fayetteville) collected two hits apiece.
Rosenbaum scored two runs. Senior catcher
Sean Weber (Columbia/East Schodack) went two for three and third baseman
David Ahonen (Victor/Farmington), a graduate student, drove in a pair of runs.
The Bombers travel to Rochester Wednesday for a non-league game that was originally scheduled for Tuesday.
