Men's Tennis Crushes Utica; Falls to Division I Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca men's tennis team (7-5, 5-0 Empire 8) split a doubleheader Saturday. The Bombers lost 8-1 to Division I Cornell in a morning dual at Reis Tennis Center, then returned to South Hill where the Bombers crushed Utica 9-0 in an Empire 8 dual at the IC Tennis Courts.

Senior Josh Rifkin (Homestead/Ft. Wayne, Ind.) and junior Jimmy Newton (Florida Virtual School/Englewood, Fla.) were 8-6 winners at first doubles in the match against Cornell and then won 8-2 against Utica. The Bombers swept all six singles matches against Utica and dropped a total of just seven games in the 12 sets that were played.

Ithaca hosts Hobart at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
