Baseball Team Drops Game At Whittier

Whittier, Calif. -- The baseball team (3-4) lost 13-6 at Whittier (9-10) Wednesday night. The Poets scored five first-innng runs and held on for the win.

Freshman shortstop Tim LoCastro (Auburn/Auburn) and junior second baseman Matt Keller (Pelham/Pelham) both picked up two of Ithaca's 12 hits. Senior Rob Zappia (Greece Athena/Rochester) sparked a two-run rally in the eighth; his pinch-hit triple scored junior outfielder Teagen Barresi (Lansing/Lansing) -- who had been hit by a pitch to lead off -- and he came home on a run-scoring ground-out by pinch-hitter Corey Caswell (Broadalbin-Perth/Broadalbin).

Baresi scored two runs for the Bombers.

Ithaca returns to action Friday, playing at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
