ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca men's swimming & diving team placed fourth in a field of nine teams at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational, held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Athletics & Events Center Aquatics Pavilion. Ithaca totaled 1,165.5 points.
Senior
Jeff Rapp (Liverpool/Liverpool) earned three top-five finishes during the meet. He was fourth in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:58.06 and fifth in both the 200-yard individual medley (1:59.32) and 400-yard IM (4:20.72).
Rapp was also on the second-place 200-yard medley relay (1:35.77) and the fourth-place 400 medley relay (3:34.17).
Senior
Derek Rand (Amity/Orange, Conn.) was third in the 3-meter diving competition with a total of 483.70 for 11 dives and second in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 437.65.
Sophomore
Taylor Van Cott (Bethlehem/Delmar) placed third in the 100-yard butterfly in 52.44 seconds and sixth in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:59.23.
Junior
Jake Lichter (Weston/Weston, Mass.) was Ithaca's top performer in the breaststroke events. Lichter was sixth in the 200 breast in 2:15.53 and seventh in the 100 breast in 1:00.58.
Sophomore
Zack Kundel (Bethlehem/Glenmont) was seventh in the 50 free in 21.64 seconds.
Ithaca will participate in its annual training trip during the semester break, and will return to competitive action Jan. 14 at the Henry Kumpf Invitational hosted by Rensselaer.
