Biography

2011-12: Rapp earned his first-career trip to the NCAA Championships on several relays and was also a national qualifier in the 200- and 400-yard individual medley and the 200-yard backstroke. He won the UNYSCSA and Empire 8 title in the 400 IM with a school-record time of 4:03.51. He also set the Ithaca record in the 200 IM in 1:52.87. Rapp totaled six all-state and five all-conference honors as a senior. He was Empire 8 Athlete of the Week for the week ending Nov. 6.

2010-11: As a junior, Rapp totaled four all-state finishes and three Empire 8 runner-up finishes to add to his list of achievements. His time of 52.28 seconds moved him up to second in the 100-yard backstroke on the Ithaca record board. Rapp earned Empire 8 Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 16.

2009-10: Rapp added seven all-state finishes, two Empire 8 titles and an Empire 8 runner-up finish to his list of achievements during his sophomore season. Rapp established Ithaca records in the 100-yard backstroke (52.33 seconds) and 200-yard individual medley (1:55.71) which earned him all-state honors in those events at the season-ending championship meet. Rapp also made the state honor roll in the 200-yard backstroke and on four relay teams – the 400- and 800-yard freestyle relays as well as the 200- and 400-yard medley relays.

2008-09: Rapp was a solid contributor as a freshman primarily in backstroke and individual medley events. He was and Empire 8 runner-up and All-UNYSCSA honoree in the 400-yard medley relay as his team placed fifth in the state with a time of 3:33.03. Rapp also earned all-state recognition in the 200 IM (1:57.14) and on the 200-yard medley relay team after finishing seventh in both events. Rapp already ranks prominently among the all-time fastest times in Ithaca history, standing fourth in the 200 IM and 200 back and seventh in the 100 back.

High School: A 2008 graduate of Liverpool High School, Rapp was coached by Zac Mekker. He was a four-year letter winner and was the team captain as a senior. He was named to the all-league team in 2005-2008 and received the Langenmyer award.

Personal: An exercise science major, he is the son of Bill and Kathy Rapp.
