Football Team Wraps Up Season With Loss In Cortaca Jug Game

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College football team (4-6) finished its season with a 27-3 loss to visiting Cortland (8-2) in the Cortaca Jug game.

The Bomber points came on a 39-yard field goal by senior Andrew Rogowski (Canisius/East Amherst) in the xsecond quarter. The field goal was Rogowski's school-record 13th of the season (he kicked 12 in 2009) and the 39th of his career, leaving him one behind Brett Kitenplon's program record.

Rogowski holds school records for field goal accuracy (75.0 percent) and extra-point percentage (93.9). His 123 extra points are second all-time at Ithaca and his 240 points are fifth all-time and second among kickers.

Sophomore Tom Scanlon (Amity Regional/Bethany, Conn.) set up Rogowski's field goal, gaining 38 yards on a fake punt after taking the hand-off from upback Adam Lajara (Cambriege Regional/Cambridge). Lajara ran for 47 yards himself.

The Bomber defense held Cortland to 14 points over the first three quarters before the Red Dragons scored twice in the fourth quarter.

Junior free safety Josh Liemer (Horace Greeley/Chappaqua) and junior linebacker Will Carter (Westlake/Thornwood) made seven tackles apiece. Junior linebacker Dan Cimino (New Paltz/New Paltz) and senior cornerback Spence White (Sleepy Hollow/Yonkers) recorded six apiece. White, who also broke up a pair of passes, raised his career total to 205 tackles; he's just the fourth Ithaca defensive back to reach that milestone.

Senior cornerback Mike Conti (Daniel Hand/Bradford, Conn.) had four solo tackles among his five total stops. Senior linebacker Chris O'Brien (Acton-Boxborough/Boxborough, Mass.) was in on a pair of tackles for loss.

Senior wide receiver Dan Ruffrage (Utica Notre Dame/Whitesboro) caught a career-high eight passes and became the program's career leader in receptions. Ruffrage finished his career with 151 catches and a school-record 1,951 receiving yards.

Junior quarterback Jason Hendel (Deerfield/Riverwoods, Il.) threw for 159 yards.
