Men's Swimming & Diving Routs Two Opponents

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca men's swimming & diving team won 10 individual events and both relays in convincingly defeating Fredonia and New Paltz in a tri-meet Saturday at Ithaca's newly-constructed Athletics & Event Center Aquatics Pavilion.

Senior Antoine Connors (Spartanburg/Spartanburg, S.C.) won both the 50-yard freestyle (21.70 seconds) and 100-yard freestyle (48.48 seconds) and anchored the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:37.28) and 200-yard freestyle relay (1:27.67).

Sophomore Taylor Van Cott (Bethlehem/Delmar) won the 200- and 100-yard butterfly events with a time of 2:03.49 in the 200 fly and 54.25 seconds in the 100 fly. He also swam the third leg of the winning 200 medley relay.

Freshman Clement Towner (Lansing/Groton) won two distance-freestyle events, touching first in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:09.55 and the 500 free in 5:00.35.

Junior Jake Lichter (Weston/Weston, Mass.) won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:01.56 and sophomore Connor White (Fox Lane/Pound Ridge) placed first with a time of 56.12 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke. Both also swam on the winning 200-yard medley relay.

Other individual event winners for Ithaca included freshman Logan Metzger (Lewisburg Area/Simsbury, Conn.) with a time of 1:47.95 in the 200 free and senior Jeff Rapp (Liverpool/Liverpool) with a time of 2:03.10 in the 200-yard individual medley.

Other members of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team included junior Jake Robbins (Fairport/Fairport), freshman Peter Knight (Franklin D. Roosevelt/Hyde Park) and sophomore Zack Kundel (Bethlehem/Glenmont).

On the diving boards, junior Martin Brown (McLean/McLean, Va.) was second on 1-meter with a score of 254.77 and senior Derek Rand (Amity Regional/Orange, Conn.) was second on 3-meter with a score of 251.63.

Ithaca returns to action in an Oct. 29 dual-meet at Rensselaer.
