Alfred, N.Y. - The Ithaca women's swimming & diving team (11-0) defeated Alfred 234-61 in dual-meet competition Saturday at Alfred. Nine different Bombers won at least one individual event and Ithaca set pool records in winning both relays on the afternoon.
Ithaca started the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay behind the efforts of junior
Missy Keesler (Union-Endicott/Endicott), sophomore
Madi Sherry (Orchard Park/Orchard Park), sophomore
Carly Jones (Liverpool/Liverpool) and freshman Kate Sessler
(Livonia/Livonia) in a pool-record time of 1:53.67.
The Bombers closed the meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay as senior
Sheila Rhoades (Dryden/Dryden), senior
Joanna Ferreri (Niskayuna/Niskayuna), freshman
Sam Martin (Hamilton/Hamilton) and
Sessler finished in a pool-record time of 1:41.66.
Rhoades swam the leadoff leg of that relay and her split of 24.30 seconds was a pool record for the 50-yard freestyle.
Jones was a double-winner in individual events as she set a pool record in winning the 400-yard individual medley in 4:39.47 and also captured the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:09.06
Junior
Jodi Costello (Framingham/Framingham, Mass.) won both diving events. She scored 248.85 on the 3-meter board and 225.65 on the 1-meter board.
Freshman
Fiona Mancuso (Hershey/Hummelstown, Pa.) swept the butterfly events with a win in 1:02.20 in the 100 fly and 28.69 seconds in the 50 fly.
Freshman
Shelby Pascoe (Palisades Charter/Pacific Palisades, Calif.) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:21.45.
Rhoades also won the 50-yard backstroke (29.04 seconds) and 100-yard backstroke (1:02.50).
Sessler won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:22.34 and
Keesler won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:04.96.
Ferreri won the 100 free in 57.91 seconds.
Sherry captured the 50-yard breaststroke in 31.28 seconds.
Ithaca's divers will compete Sunday in the Bomber Diving Invitational. The entire team competes in dual-meet action Saturday at Union.
