#4 Bombers Roll To Win Over Oneonta

ITHACA, N.Y. –The fourth-ranked wrestling team (10-2) scored the first 21 points of the match, winning four straight bouts, in a 37 -6 romp over Oneonta (9-5-1). The win was Ithaca's 24th straight over the Red Dragons and raised the Bomber lead in the series to 32-7-1.

Senior David Priest (Wyomissing Area/Douglassville, Pa.), one of five nationally ranked Bombers to wrestle Thursday night, clinched the Ithaca win with a 15-3 major decision at 174 pounds.

Priest, who is ranked ninth at 174 pounds, picked up his team-leading seventh major decision of the season. He's now 17-3 this season (10-2 against dual meet opponents) and 94-29 in his career. He's six victories away from becoming the 17th Bomber to reach 100 wins.

Junior Max Cohen (Williamsville East/East Amherst) started the competition with an 18-6 major decision (his third of the season) at 125. Cohen is now 14-6 on the season; the victory was the 20th of his career.

Junior Seth Ecker (Pottstown/Pottstown, Pa.), ranked third nationally at 133, recorded his sixth fall of the season. Ecker, who was leading 4-1 before pinning his opponent in 1:01, is 21-4 this winter (10-2 in dual meets), earning bonus points in 13 of his victories. His career record stands at 67-16.

Junior Jeremy Stierly (Owen J. Roberts/Pottstown, Pa.), who's ranked second at 141, outscored his opponent 16-0 en route to the technical fall victory. Stierly improved to 13-1 this season – with a perfect 8-0 mark in duals – and 68-16 in his career.

Senior Blaine Woszczak (Wall/Manasquan, N.J.) stretched his winning streak to 14, recording a pin 1:18 into his bout. The pin was Woszczak's sixth of the season (second on the team) and raised his record to 25-2 (11-0 in dual meets). With a career record of 127-34, he's two wins away from tying Bob Panariello (1981-85) atop Ithaca's all-time victory list.

Senior Nick Sanko (Hamburg Area/Lenhartsville, Pa.) improved to 12-5 on the season, winning 4-1 at 165 pounds. His career record now stands at 32-17.

Freshman Shane Bartrum (Oswego/Oswego) picked up his fourth win of the season, outscoring his opponent 9-2 at 197 pounds.

Junior heavyweight Matt Mahon (Brighton/Rochester) notched his 14th pin of the season, opening up a 12-3 lead before finishing the bout in 5:26. Mahon, ranked fourth nationally, is now 18-6 this season with a 9-2 dual-match record. His career mark is 64-21 with 42 falls.

The Bombers travel to #23 Delaware Valley next Thursday.
