Oneonta, N.Y. - The Ithaca field hockey team (3-5) outshot the host Oneonta Red Dragons (6-4) Wednesday afternoon but came out on the short end of a 3-0 score in non-league action.
The Bombers held a 10-9 advantage in shots in the game, and an 8-5 advantage in penalty corners, but couldn't get the ball past the Oneonta goalkeeper. Senior midfielder
Katherine Brown (Akron/Akron) led Ithaca with five shots and sophomore forward
Julia Conroy (Westfield/Westfield, N.J.) had two shots. Oneonta scored once in the first half and twice in the second. It was just the second time all season that the Bombers have been held off the scoreboard.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Samantha Grassi (Rondout Valley/Kerhonkson) made her first career start and made two saves.
Ithaca returns to action Saturday at home for a 1 p.m. start at Yavits Field against Utica, as part of the college's Fall Splash Alumni and Homecoming Weekend.
