Field Hockey Drops Fourth Straight with 1-0 Loss at RPI

TROY, N.Y. – The Ithaca College field hockey team dropped its fourth game in a row to the RPI Engineers in the Bombers' Liberty League finale on Saturday, 1-0. Ithaca heads into its final game of the regular season with a 10-6 record.

The first quarter opened with the Bombers under siege by the Engineers. RPI hemmed IC in its own 25' for the majority of the first. The Engineers recorded two shots but more importantly four penalty corners.

IC pushed back in the final five minutes of the quarter generating multiple corner opportunities and forcing Engineers' goalkeeper Olivia Brovak to play out of her crease more, but she rose to the occasion and pushed every chance aside facing six shots.

The second quarter saw a lot of back and forth play with the Bombers starting to push more offensively, building on the momentum generated in the first, IC registered two penalty corners of its own and sent four shots to the cage.

The third quarter saw very limited chances for both sides but, eventually, RPI pulled ahead. The Engineers caught a break on a Bombers stretch pass along the far side.

This set up Emily Dubord in the far side of the shooting circle to cross the ball to Ella Pasquarelli. The cross pushed Maeve Clark to dive out, but her effort wasn't enough allowing Pasquarelli to send the ball into the back of the cage for a 1-0 lead.

The Bombers tried to push the play ahead multiple times in the third, but RPI's defense stood tall pushing every opportunity to the side and forcing IC to take multiple fouls ending their rushes.

Ithaca College kept pressing for offense but its only real opportunity came from a corner late in the 54th minute. As Elizabeth Rumble started the chance and found Amelia MacDonald, but Olivia Brovak denied this opportunity to keep the score 1-0.

The Bombers take on the No. 17 Babson College Beavers on Sunday Oct. 25 in Babson Park, Mass.
