ITHACA, N.Y.--Visiting Cortland (30-7-1) snapped Ithaca's four-game winning streak with a 13-4 win Sunday afternoon at Freeman Field. The Bombers (15-14) outhit the 12th-ranked Red Dragons 13-9.
Senior #T.J. Abone# (Rome Free Academy/Rome) accounted for two of the Bombers' runs with a two run home run to right in the seventh inning that scored senior Mike Armstrong (Penfield/Penfield). Junior Matt Streich (East Greenwich/East Greenwich) also scored in the seventh, drawing a walk a crossing the plate on a single from classmate Rob Zappia (Greece Athena/Rochester).
Abone and Zappia both had multi-hit games for Ithaca, as did junior David Ahonen (Victory/Farmington) and sophomore Russ Martens (Avon/Avon, Conn.). The Bombers have averaged 16 hits over their last four games.
Pitching in relief, junior lefthander Andrew Wall (Newfield/Newfield) threw three perfect innings, striking out three Red Dragons. He lowered his earned run average to 3.30 through seven games and five starts.
Sophomore Tucker Healy (Needham/Needham, Mass.) pitched the ninth inning and struck out the side. In just 26.1 innings pitched on the season, he has struck out 39 batters.
The Bombers return to action Tuesday when they take on Clarkson at Syracuse's Alliance Bank Stadium.
